The Wonders of Winter
Eric Forstmann
Sharon, CT
Eric Forstmann is a Warren, CT native who has always been interested in the basic illusion of strong realist art. He employs a shallow depth of field in his work, skillfully inviting viewers to take notice of the beauty in the ordinary that is all around us. Describing himself as an “eyeball realist” who does not use photography to recall a subject unless absolutely necessary, Forstmann works almost exclusively from life, bridging the traditional and the contemporary. He finds inspiration in both conventional subjects and unconventional ones, such as a well-known series he does of shirts hanging on walls. His work has appeared in several one man shows and has been featured at the Norman Rockwell Museum and The Baker Museum of Artis-Naples in Naples, FL and The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Missouri.
Awards: In 2017 Litchfield Magazine named Forstmann one of the “25 Most Influential People” in Litchfield County, CT
